What is an essential oil?

Essential oils are the natural liquids and aromatic compounds that are distilled from plants, trees, shrubs, flowers, stems, and seeds. The oil is the vital part of the plant. The oils are natural and don’t cause side effects like medications. Native cultures have used essential oils for centuries for emotional and physical healing.  Using Essential Oils is a science. Now there is a large body of knowledge surrounding the therapeutic use of essential oils and how they work in the body. Just as there are many herbal choices there are many essential oil choices and not everything works for everyone.

Quality and education are important for you to benefit and to incorporate using essential oils in your daily life.

How do you know what to look for? The companies I order from, both Young Living and Swiss Aromatics, have these great qualities:

Label: Botanical name, plant part, country of origin, distillation date and/or expiration date, chemotype (if applicable), and “Keep Out of Reach of Children” statement Cost: If it’s too good to be true, it probably is. Inexpensive oils have other ingredients and not the pure oil. Testing: Especially GC/MS testing know where the distillation process happens Organic, unsprayed, or wildcrafted- land that hasn’t had pesticides NAHA or other association memberships-are they involved in their industry associations Sustainability and economic cooperatives or initiatives

This is a really easy. Becoming a Wholesale Member provides you 24% off retail price! That’s why I did it. As you use the oils and you share your success stories with friends and family. You have the option, if you wish, but definitely don’t have to, of earning commissions when others join and purchase Young Living oils. How cool is that?!
