As Mother’s Day peeks it’s head around the corner, it made me think about how we “mother”, nurture, and take care of ourselves.

Cheryl Richardson was one of the first people who really promoted the importance of “radical or extreme self- love.” As Cheryl has shown, there are so many forms of self-love it fills books.  You may never have thought of “self-care” as a top priority or you may not think it’s “sexy”, fun, or beautiful.

To the contrary loving yourself, which is part of taking care of yourself, is vital in these times. Taking care of yourself the way a nurturing mother would her child is the most important thing you can do to be beautiful from the inside out, to have fun, and yes, to be sexy.

Stopping to take a breath, staying in integrity with yourself, setting a healthy boundary, loving that part of you of you that you think is imperfect, loving your body, or forgiving yourself – are all aspects of “self-care-self-love.”  As you do this you empower yourself.  That is your Super Power. As you take care and honor yourself you radiate an energy that says, “I feel good about myself,” and others feel that, too.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the women who take time to “mother” themselves, especially while handling the job of mothering others – including children, spouses, parents, friends and co-workers.

“You will be with you longer than anyone else on the planet, so why not make it a good relationship?” ~Cheryl Richardson, Waking Up in Winter: In Search of What Really Matters at Midlife

Honoring yourself is most important thing in the world,
